Summer time

We are enjoying our summer activities here at Venabygdsfjellet and Rondane National Park: such as walking in the mountains, guided tours, horse riding, yoga courses, cycling, canoeing, fishing, cultural events and many more.

Off piste adventure in Northern areas

We had a great time skiing in the Northern parts of Venabygdsfjellet - great conditions to just skate up and down on the hills with magnificent views.

Still skiing

The winter season is over but there is still some snow to ski on around the central parts of Venabygdsfjellet. Up in the mountains we still have enough snow to tour around - hard and icy surface morningtime and softer conditions in the afternoons. In last days the temperatures were around +3 and -6 Celsius.
Soon all snow will melt and we can get ready for the summer season.

Friday

8 AM: -4 Celsius, partly cloudy, light air from N-NE.
Today I have been skiing on my own in the area round Måsåplassen. There were some tracks there that I didn't know (and I found a track that will be nice as a change on the skisafari we have in the area).
The snowconditions this morning were beautiful! If I had started at 8 AM, I would have been fine with blue extra. Unfortunately I didn't, and it got warmer and warmer, +6 Celsius at the warmest, so the waxing got quite difficult, not even red wax worked. Here is a few photos:

Fresh snow

7AM: -2 Celsius, light air from N-NV, cloudy.
Lots of fresh snow, 12 mm precipitation last 24 hours. That also means we don't need klister for a few days, red wax worked fine today. Lars took these photos:

6th - 12th of April

The winterseason at Venabu has almost come to an end. This week we have the special handicap-week. People with different handicaps are out skiing and sledging. It's great to see how everybody is enjoying their holiday! Unfortunately the weather has changed and it's warmer (from 0 to +6) and more wet, some snow, some rain.
...so to all our guest that has been skiing the two or tree last weeks in nice, synny weather and  really nice conditions: you were lucky!!!!!

Saturday and Troll skimarathon

Troll skimarathon and beautiful conditions! Approx -8 Celsius when they started at 8 AM, hard tracks and good glide! It warmed up to +4 Celcius during the day, but then most of the 530 skiers had already finished their 95 km..... Svein Tore Sinnes won  (4:26:12).

Great Friday

8AM: -9,5 Celsius, light air from N, sunny.
Update: We have been extremely lucky this week. Perfect klister-conditions. Nice and sunny every day. Today was no exception. Great skisafari from Måsåplassen and back. We went up to Stulshøgdin as well and got a great view.

Thursday

7AM: -8 Celsius, light air from S, partly cloudy, good visibility.
Update: Another great day! Skisafari to Gråhøgdbu (DNT-cabin) and the canyon. Shorter tour in the same area. The tracks are quite hard and icy, but everywhere else it's perfect.

Wednesday

8AM: -11 Celsius, light air from N, sunny.
Update: A very nice day! Just sunny, no wind.
We had a snowshoetour to Myfallet today, enjoying the spectacular waterfall. A bit icy to get down to the bottom, but everybody managed.
