Warm Wednesday
Good morning at 6AM: +2.9 Celsius, light breeze from N, partly cloudy, great visibility. Probably today is our first klister day - having mainly plus degrees all night and looking at more plus degrees for the next two days.
Afternoon update: It was "vario klister day", but some of us decided to use snowshoes and visit Veslefjellet - looking at the full panoramic view of Venabygdsfjellet. Later on this afternoon we still had time to enjoy more skiing.

Mild days
6AM: -5.1 Celsius, light breeze from S-SW, partly cloudy, great visibility. It seems like we are heading into a few warmer days - in plus degrees. Hopefully the snow will hold on to its cold temperature. Today we are on Trolloypa again - checking the trail and ourselves to Oksendalen.
Evening update: We had a rather challenging day for waxing - having wind, warm temperatures (max.+4.9 Celsius) and varied snow temperatures in different locations. Fortunately we had the right wax and we changed in the right time ending up with a really nice day going to Oksendalen.

Monday
Good morning at 7AM: -8.3 Celsius, light air from SE, fair visibility, but surrounding peaks are in clouds, overcast. We have about 1 cm of fresh snowcover - came overnight. All trails were prepared yesterday, including Trolloypa to Hirisjoa (towards Oksendalen).

Back to normal weather
Saturday, 25 February 2012
Weekend
Good morning at 7AM: -4.8 Celsius, gentle breeze from NW, partly cloudy, great visibility. After a mild day (max. temp: +5.1Celsius) and a very windy night we have colder conditions. It is actually a great thing that we had a few warm days, so the snow consolidated and compacted enough - after all those cold weeks. Of course the scenery has changed with it too, there are more dark colours appearing on mountains and ridges, but hopefully we get more snow in a couple of days.
Most of trails will be/ are being prepared for today. Enjoy your weekend!

Friday
Good morning at 6AM: -1.9 Celsius, light breeze from W, partly cloudy, great visibility. After a very mixed day (strong wind, calm, mild, sunny, cloudy, snowy) we are heading into a more straightforward one. Today we are expecting weather with wind from W -SW, partly cloudy and mild temperatures (even above zero). We will be enjoying Trolloypa again, but this time from Rondablikk.
10PM update: It seems like we are experiencing pre-Easter weather in Norway, having plus degrees most of the places. Fortunately the snow was holding well and we managed to ski all day on blue extra wax. We had a perfect day skiing back from Rondablikk: wind assisted trip with mild temperatures, stunning views, good snow condition and great company. A day to remember!
Trolloypa was in good order, well marked on open areas from Kvamsfjellet to Venabygdsfjellet. We did not see anyone until we got to Eldabu, then more skiers appeared.
Looking forward to a nice and busy weekend.

Good morning at 6AM: Mild temperatures all night between -4 and -1 Celsius, at the moment: -1.8 Celsius, moderate breeze from NW, clear sky (few smaller clouds are passing by), great visibility, sounds and looks windy. We are expeciting more wind and some precipitation (snow showers) in next 48hrs. Most of the trails were in great condition yesterday.

Wednesday
Good morning at 7AM: -6 Celsius, light breeze from SE, overcast, fair visibility in central area. Looks like another type of view and weather today - hopefully it follows forecast and will be partly cloudy. Most of the trails have been cut every day this week, so we can enjoy tours all over Venabygdsfjellet.
9PM update: It turned out to be a fine day with very little wind and mild temperatures: +0.6 Celsius (warmest)

Tuesday
Good morning at 7AM: -3.7 Celsius, moderate breeze from W-NW, partly cloudy, great visibility and nice sunrise! We had less than 1 cm of snow yesterday, afternoon/ evening wind from S-SE, overnight it changed to W-NW and warmed up more. We are expecting a day like this and a small change again in wind direction tomorrow. Temperatures stay in milder regions.
Today is a nice day to try Trolloypa to Masaplassen - having wind behind us. More later.
9PM: What a day! I have to say - the wind forecast was a bit off - direction was accurate, only the force was lacking. It was very challenging crossing up to Brennflya - it was more like strong breeze. Once we reached Stolshogda we were in a safe place and we really enjoyed the rest of the trip. We saw some amazing views - even a reindeer herd on a distant mountain.

Good morning at 7AM: -13.9 Celsius, light air from E-SE, overcast, good visibility. We are expecting mild weather and mixed conditions throughout the week - starting today. Hopefully we have some sunny periods too.

Weekend
Good morning at 7AM: -5 Celsius, gentle breeze from S-SE, limited visibility, overcast, snowing(light) and blowing. What a change after yesterday. We are expecting more snow and wind for the next 24hrs.
Sunday update: Yes it was snowy and windy. we had about 5cm of fresh snow in last 48hrs and windy conditions (direction changed from S to N-NW today). Today was still windy, but sunny and we all enjoyed skiing around the trails.

Friday
Good morning, at 7AM: -6.4 Celsius, light breeze from W, partly cloudy, great visibility. Looking forward to a nice day!
9PM: It was a great day, many people were out challenging or just enjoying themselves on and off piste. Few people managed to go around the Outer Circle spending between 4.5 and 7 hrs cruising around Venabygdsfjellet. Great job!

New week
Good morning, 7AM: -8 Celsius, light air from S-SW, good visibility, overcast. All trails were prepared last weekend (including Trolloypa towards Masaplasen - to Hirisjoa), Eldabu- Indre Uksan and Brennflya-Grahogdbu sections were marked too. The weather started changing yesterday and it seems like it will be like this for a few days, which means - wind, snow, changing visibility. Lets enjoy our new week and challenges.

Good morning! 7 AM: -13.5 Celsius, light breeze, almost clear sky- few clouds around, great visibility. Almost all trails have been cut yesterday!
Friday, 10 February 2012
Friday
Good morning. 7AM: -10.9 Celsius, light air, overcast, good visibility. We had some snow fallen overnight - about 1cm. We are looking ahead of a busy weekend and week, because half term visitors are coming.
8PM update: Great day out - turned out to be a sunny one! Nice trip on Svartfjellet - with some off-piste exercises.
Thursday, 9 February 2012
Foggy and windy
It has been foggy, windy, -10 Celsius here since this morning and as it seems - it will not change for awhile. Hopefully tomorrow brings some change.

Another day out
What a day! Sunny and clear sky all day long - amazing sunrise and sunset colours. We went up Veslefjellet to see the views, which were stunning - Jotunheimen, Rondane and the whole Venabygdsfjellet in clear view. Great mix day of snowshoeing and skiing. I hope the forecast is wrong, so we will not have too cloudy and snowy day tomorrow.
Sunny and clear

Monday
7AM: -10 Celsius, calm, overcast, limited visibility (local fog). It seems like the arctic days are over, we are back to normal winter temperatures.

Weekend
Another 3-4cm of snow welcomed us this morning. At 7AM it was -18 Celsius, overcast, light snowfall, fair visibility. Not much has changed since (11AM), except almost all our trails were cut(not Veslefjell Rundt) or being cut now. Enjoy the weekend and the great conditions.
Evening update. We had mixed conditions all day, from snowing and blowing to calm almost sunny weather. I managed to have most of them while I was checking out the majority of our trails (outer circle). It was a fair challenge especially against the wind, cold, snow and low visibility. Good quality day out with more than 55km -"mini Birken" at Venabygdsfjellet.

Cold and foggy
7AM: -23 Celsius, calm, low visibility, local fog. No trails have been cut this week, although tracks are still in ok shape. More skiing in forested areas!
9PM update: We decided to take the risk of going North hoping for the fog lifting up - and it did! Great day out in cold and sunny weather, then things changed this evening - light snowfall started.

Thursday
This morning we could clearly see the change as it started snowing. Temperature still stayed below - 10Celsius, light snowfall and limited visibilty follewed us all morning - then this afternoon clouds lifted and we had better views. There was some wind coming from S-SE, which made us staying in forrested areas - exploring our snowcovered landscape.

Snowshoe tour
Another cold morning, temperature around -20 Celsius. We decided to head out and see Dorfallet, Veslefjellet and panoramic views of the central part of Venabygdsfjellet. We had keep moving all the time to keep comfortable and warm, but of course managed to enjoy scenery. Good 4 hours snowshoeing in varied snowconditions gave us a good workout.
Looking at the clouds it seems like there is a change on the way, maybe tomorrow?
