Skisafari and skisafari light

Another quite windy day, but less than yesterday. Great safari conditions! One group skied up to Gråhøgdbu and down by the canyon, the other group around Veslbøllia and Veslefjell.

Skisafari to Måsåplassen

We had the most fantastic ski safaris, two Måsåplassen today. It was really windy and skiing was not too tiring, as the wind came from the north!!

Skisafari Rondablikk

A great, but challenging day on the Trolløype, with a mix of sunny and snowy conditions.
Svartfjell, Dynjefjell and Trabelifjell, in the back, seen from the north.

Sudden change in weather conditions.

Clearing up again as we reached Indre Uksan.

Thursday on Trolløypa

7AM: -17.1 Celsius, light breeze from N-NW, clear, great visibility.

6PM update: Great weather and time on Trolløypa South. The trail was prepared yesterday, but it seemed fairly windblown all the way to Måsåplassen.

Colder morning -Checking Trolløypa S

6AM: -17.3 Celsius, light breeze from N, clear, great visibility.

Late update: We had a nice tour on Trolløypa South to Måsåplassen, the trails were windblown, but still had firm base.

Wednesday on Trolløypa

7AM: -4.8 Celsius, light air from E-SE, partly cloudy, great visibility. After yesterday`s warm maximum temperature (+5.1 Celsius) we are expecting milder conditions today as well. It is still far from klister time, but needs smart thinking to find and take the right combination of waxes with us.

6PM update: Great "wind assisted" tour to Måsåplassen in sunny and windy conditions. Snow condition was good (blue extra/violet) despite of mild temperatures. Trails were windblown, but had solid base. The views and colours were amazing all the way to Måsåplassen.

Fantastic day

Another amazing sunny day out in the northern areas enjoying the fresh snow and some challenging off piste routes. All trails were prepared -even Trolløypa towards Måsåplassen. We are looking forward to another day like this tomorrow.

Friday

6AM: -14.2 Celsius, calm, local fog, limited visibility. We are hoping to see the fog lifting up so we enjoy another sunny day - this time on Trollløypa.
Late update: Great trip on Trolløypa, hard work in some places and very low visibility (fog stayed most of the time), but very rewarding.

Tuesday - Trolloypa S

Good morning, at 6AM: -8.7 Celsius, almost no wind, good visibility, overcast. Today we are back on Trolloype S - testing conditions and ourselves. Most of trails are being/will be prepared today.
Late update: We had a really nice tour today to Oskendalen in variable snow conditions. We managed to stay on blue wax all day (on some sections we had either too much grip or too much glide). Nice skiing with interesting cloud colours and lights. Some parts of Trolloypa had patches of no snow - otherwise good cover all the way.

Skisafari tour on Trolloypa South

Another update: We also had a tour to Måsåplassen today. Strong wind from behind made it easy. Still nice conditions, but very little snow some places, especially where it has been windy.

Thursday on Trolloypa

Good morning at 6AM: -0.8 Celsius, light breeze from E, clear sky, great visibility. Yesterday we had our warmest day this winter, which was nice, but hopefully this weather pattern will not stay with us for too long. Today seems mild too, but we had our first minus degrees this morning -for many hours. Southern trails/ Svartfjellet/ Northern trails have been prepared in the mild conditions, so they should be in good order today. It is clearly another klister day, but weather forecast shows great improvement for the weekend, so we probably move back to "blue conditions". We are testing Trolloypa again from Rondablikk to Venabu.
Late update: Great day out with challenging conditions. Since the trails were cut long ago around Rondablikk it was a bit hard to ski on the icy surface, but once we joined Trolloypa it was a bit easier. We had to rewax - "reklister" a couple of times to adjust our skis to local conditions.
The views were amazing as usual and we progressed well. Sadly we saw more and more bare patches on ridges and even on Trolloypa itself. I think we are ready again to receive more snow. great day out with company!

Mild days

6AM: -5.1 Celsius, light breeze from S-SW, partly cloudy, great visibility. It seems like we are heading into a few warmer days - in plus degrees. Hopefully the snow will hold on to its cold temperature. Today we are on Trolloypa again - checking the trail and ourselves to Oksendalen.
Evening update: We had a rather challenging day for waxing - having wind, warm temperatures (max.+4.9 Celsius) and varied snow temperatures in different locations. Fortunately we had the right wax and we changed in the right time ending up with a really nice day going to Oksendalen.

Friday

Good morning at 6AM: -1.9 Celsius, light breeze from W, partly cloudy, great visibility. After a very mixed day (strong wind, calm, mild, sunny, cloudy, snowy) we are heading into a more straightforward one. Today we are expecting weather with wind from W -SW, partly cloudy and mild temperatures (even above zero). We will be enjoying Trolloypa again, but this time from Rondablikk.
10PM update: It seems like we are experiencing pre-Easter weather in Norway, having plus degrees most of the places. Fortunately the snow was holding well and we managed to ski all day on blue extra wax. We had a perfect day skiing back from Rondablikk: wind assisted trip with mild temperatures, stunning views, good snow condition and great company. A day to remember!
Trolloypa was in good order, well marked on open areas from Kvamsfjellet to Venabygdsfjellet. We did not see anyone until we got to Eldabu, then more skiers appeared.
Looking forward to a nice and busy weekend.
